TELEPHONE (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1982.

I, PATRICK COONEY, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, hereby make the following regulations;

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Telephone (Amendment) Regulations, 1982.

(2) The collective citation "the Telephone Regulations, 1980 to 1982," shall include these Regulations.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. The Telephone Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1980 ), are hereby amended by the substitution of the following regulation for Regulation 45:

"45. ( a ) The Minister may from time to time increase or reduce the subscription or charges, and in the event of an increase he shall give notice to the subscriber, and no increase under this Regulation shall take effect before the expiration of the period of fourteen days beginning on the date of the notice relating thereto and required to be given by this Regulation.

( b ) When any increase or reduction under this Regulation takes effect, the agreement shall be construed as if the increased or reduced subscription or charge were provided for in the agreement."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to reduce the period of notice of increased charges to be given to subscribers from 28 days to 14 days.
