S.I. No. 400/1981 - Wireless Telegraphy (Control of Sale, Letting on Hire Or Manufacture, and Importation of Radio Transceivers) Order, 1981.


WHEREAS it appears to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs to be expedient that the provisions of section 7 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1972 (No. 5 of 1972), should, for the purpose of preventing or reducing the risk of interference with wireless telegraphy, apply to the class or description of apparatus for wireless telegraphy specified in the following Order,

NOW I, PATRICK M. COONEY, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1972 (No. 5 of 1972), and with the consent of the Minister for Industry and Energy hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Control of Sale, Letting on Hire or Manufacture, and Importation of Radio Transceivers) Order, 1981, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1982.

2. Apparatus for wireless telegraphy of the following class or description, namely, wireless telegraphy apparatus consisting of a radio transceiver capable of transmitting and receiving voice communications on any frequency between 26.96 and 27.41 MHz, and designed to use, or capable of using, amplitude modulation, is hereby specified for the purposes of section 7 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1972 .
