S.I. No. 352/1981 - Maximum Prices (Pre-Packaged Coal) (No. 5) Order, 1981.


The Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), and the Industry, Commerce and Tourism (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1981 ( S.I. No. 290 of 1981 ), hereby orders as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Pre-Packaged Coal) (No. 5) Order, 1981.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 16th day of October, 1981.

2. (1) The maximum prices at which coal packed in a closed container or package may be sold by retail in any place in the State other than the county borough of Cork or the administrative county of Cork, the county borough of Dublin or the administrative county of Dublin, and the county borough of Waterford or the administrative county of Waterford shall be—

(a) in the case of a container or package containing 28 pounds or 12½ kilograms of coal, £1.53½,

(b) in the case of a container or package containing 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, £3.05, and

(c) in the case of a container or package containing more than 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, and calculated at the rate of £6.09 per hundredweight or per 50 kilograms, as the case may be.

(2) The maximum prices at which coal packed in a closed container or package may be sold by retail in the county borough of Cork or the administrative county of Cork shall be—

(a) in the case of a container or package containing 28 pounds or 12½ kilograms of coal, £1.60½,

(b) in the case of a container or package containing 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, £3.09, and

(c) in the case of a container or package containing more than 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, a sum calculated at the rate of £6.18 per hundredweight or per 50 kilograms, as the case may be.

(3) The maximum prices at which coal packed in a closed container or package may be sold by retail in the county borough of Dubllin or the administrative county of Dublin shall be—

(a) in the case of a container or package containing 28 pounds or 12½ kilograms of coal, £1.50½,

(b) in the case of a container or package containing 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, £2.96½, and

(c) in the case of a container or package containing more than 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, a sum calculated at the rate of £5.81 per hundredweight or per 50 kilograms, as the case may be.

(4) The maximum prices at which coal packed in a closed container or package may be sold by retail in the county borough of Waterford or the administrative county of Waterford shall be—

(a) in the case of a container or package containing 28 pounds or 12½ kilograms of coal, £1.55,

(b) in the case of a container or package containing 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, £3.05, and

(c) in the case of a container or package containing more than 56 pounds or 25 kilograms of coal, a sum calculated at the rate of £6.09 per hundredweight or per 50 kilograms, as the case may be.

3. The Maximum Prices (Pre-Packaged Coal) (No. 4) Order, 1981 ( S.I. No. 243 of 1981 ), is hereby revoked.
