S.I. No. 295/1981 - Telex (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1981.


I, PATRICK COONEY, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, hereby make, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Telex (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1981.

(2) The collective citation “the Telex Regulations, 1980 and 1981,” shall include these Regulations.

2. (a) These Regulations, in so far as they specify the charges payable for the installation, connection for use or provision of a Telex Exchange Line, shall come into operation on 1st day of September, 1981.

(b) These Regulations in so far as they provide for matters other than those mentioned in paragraph (a) of this Regulation, shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1981.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. The Telex Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 197 of 1980 ), are hereby amended by the substitution of the following Schedule for the Schedule thereto (inserted by Regulation 4 (c) of the Telex (Amendment) Regulation, 1981 ( S.I. No. 107 of 1981 )):—

Charges for Calls other than Subscriber Keyed Calls

Description of Call

Charge

1. A call between two installations connected with the same telex exchange.

9.13p for each three minutes or part of three minutes

For the first three minutes or part of three minutes

For each minute or part of a minute after the first three minutes

2. Any other call to an installation in the State or in Nothern Ireland, the distance between the telex exchanges connected for the purpose of the call being in excess of 80 kilometres

Part II

Charges for Subscriber Keyed Calls

The charge for a subscriber keyed call shall be the sum of 9.13p in respect of each period or part of a period of time specified in the Table to this part of this Schedule which is appropriate to the call and during which the call continues.

1. A call between two installations connected with the same telex exchange

2. Any other call to an installation in the State or in Northern Ireland, the distance between the telex exchanges connected for the purpose of the call being in excess of 80 kilometres

Fee for every call made from a call office in addition to the normal sum payable for such call:

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The purpose of these Regulations is:

(a) to provide for an increase in the connection charge for Telex service from £150 to £170.

(b) to provide for an increase in other Telex charges of 5% approximately.
