S.I. No. 289/1981 - Energy (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1981.


The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This order may be cited as the Energy (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1981.

(2) This order shall come into operation on the 21st day of August 1981.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name whereof is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Fuinnimh and, in the English language, the Department of Energy, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Tionscail agus Fuinnimh and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Industry and Energy.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of a Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Fuinnimh, and, in the English language, the Minister for Energy, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Tionscail agus Fuinnimh and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Industry and Energy.

4. In any enactment—

(a) references to the Department of Energy shall be construed as references to the Department of Industry and Energy;

(b) references to the Minister for Energy shall be construed as references to the Minister for Industry and Energy.

This Order changes the name of the Department of Energy to that of the Department of Industry and Energy and the title of the Minister for Energy to that of the Minister for Industry and Energy.
