S.I. No. 212/1981 - Industrial Research and Standards (Section 44) (Perambulators and Pushchairs) Order, 1981.


I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 44 of the Industrial Research and Standards Act, 1961 , (No. 20 of 1961) as adapted by the Industry, Commerce and Energy (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 10 of 1980 ), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Research and Standards (Section 44) (Perambulators and Pushchairs) Order, 1981.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of June, 1981.

3. In this Order “perambulator” and “pushchair” have the meanings assigned to them, respectively, by Irish Standard 209: 1980.

4. It shall be unlawful to manufacture, assemble or sell a perambulator or pushchair to which this Order applies unless it complies with Irish Standard 209: 1980 (being the standard specification for perambulators and pushchairs declared by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards).

5. This Order applies to any perambulator or pushchair which is intended for sale to the public in the State.
