WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY (EXPERIMENTER'S LICENCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1981.

I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 (1) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1926 (No. 45 of 1926) and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) Regulations, 1981.

(2) The Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1980, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1981.

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1981.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. Regulation 11 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937, as amended by Regulation 3 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 194 of 1980 ) is hereby amended by-

( a ) the substitution in paragraph (1) of "four pounds and fifty new pence" and "three pounds and fifty new pence" for "four pounds" and "three pounds", respectively, and

( b ) the substitution of "one pound and fifty new pence" for "one pound" in paragraph (2),

and the said paragraphs (1) and (2), as so amended, are set out in paragraphs 1 and 2 respectively, of the Table to this Regulation.

TABLE

1. A fee of four pounds and fifty new pence shall be payable on the issue of an experimenter's licence and a fee of three pounds and fifty new pence shall be payable on every renewal thereof.

2. Where an applicant for an experimenter's licence submits himself at the request of the Minister to a test of his operating speed held by or on behalf of the Minister, a fee of one pound and fifty new pence shall be paid by such applicant at or before the commencement of such test.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to provide for an increase in the fees payable under the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1980 as follows:

( a ) "Annual" Licences

(i) Fee payable on issue from £4 to £4.50.

(ii) Fee payable on renewal from £3 to £3.50.

( b ) Examination fee from £1 to £1.50.
