ROAD VEHICLES (REGISTRATION AND LICENSING) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1981.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12 of the Roads Act, 1920 and section 3 of the Finance (Excise Duties) (Vehicles) Act, 1952 (No. 24 of 1952) hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 1981.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1981.

2. Sub-article (2) of article 8 of the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 1958 ( S.I. No. 198 of 1958 ) is hereby amended by the substitution of "is not more than twenty pounds" for "is less than ten pounds".

3. Sub-article (2) of article 4 of the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 84 of 1960 ) is hereby amended by the substitution of "twenty pounds" for "ten pounds".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 1958 ( S.I. No. 198 of 1958 ) and the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 84 of 1960 ) so as to provide that no repayment of duty shall be made where either the annual rate of duty paid on a licence or where the difference between the annual rate of duty on a surrendered licence and that payable upon a licence issued for the remainder of the licensing period, is not more than twenty pounds.
