SAFETY IN INDUSTRY ACT, 1980 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1981.

I, TOM NOLAN, Minister for Labour in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Safety in Industry Act, 1980 (No. 9 of 1980), hereby order as follows—

1. This Order may be cited as the Safety in Industry Act, 1980 (Commencement) Order, 1981.

2. In this Order "the Act" means the Safety in Industry Act, 1980 (No. 9 of 1980).

3. The 1st day of March, 1981, is hereby fixed as the day on which the following provisions of the Act shall come into operation, namely:

( a ) section 2, except in so far as it provides a definition of"lifting tackle";

( b ) section 7, in so far as it—

(i) amends sections 2(1) and 86(3) of the Principal Act,

(ii) repeals sections 47(3) and 119(2) of the Principal Act;

and

( c ) sections 3 to 6, 8 to 14, 19, 21, 22(2), 22(3), 23, 24(2), 25 to 27, 30, 33, 40 to 45, 47 to 56 and the Schedule.

4. The 1st day of April, 1981, is hereby fixed as the day on which the following provisions of the Act shall come into operation, namely, section 7, in so far as it repeals section 73 of the Principal Act, and sections 35 to 39.

5. The 1st day of September, 1981, is hereby fixed as the day on which sections 16 and 20 of the the Act shall come into operation.

6. The 1st day of March, 1982, is hereby fixed as the day on which the following provisions of the Act shall come into operation, namely, section 7, in so far as it amends section 47(4) of the Principal Act, and section 15.
