CONTROL OF EXPORTS (IRAN) ORDER, 1980.

I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947), section 2 of the Control of Exports (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1956 (No. 1 of 1956 ) (which Act is continued in force by the Control of Exports (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1956 (Continuance) Act, 1977 (No. 26 of 1977)), the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (Transfer of Powers) Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 52 of 1956 ) (as amended by the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (Transfer of Powers) Order, 1956 (Amendment) Order, 1963 ( S.I. No. 21 of 1963 )), and the Industry, Commerce and Energy (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 10 of 1980 ), and after consultation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Exports (Iran) Order, 1980.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 22nd day of May, 1980.

2. The exportation to Iran of any agricultural products specified in the Schedule to the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (Transfer of Powers) Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 52 of 1956 ), as amended by the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (Transfer of Powers) Order, 1956 (Amendment) Order, 1963 ( S.I. No. 21 of 1963 ), is hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence issued under the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947).

3. (1) The exportation to Iran of any goods to which this Article applies is hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence issued under the Control of Exports (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1956 (No. 1 of 1956 ).

(2) This Article applies to goods of a kind mentioned in the first column of the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs and Excise Duties and Form of Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 ), at any tariff code number, other than goods to which the Agricultural Products (Regulation of Export to Iran) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 145 of 1980 ), or Article 2 of this Order applies and other than fishery products.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to prohibit, save under licence, the export to Iran of all manufactured goods and certain agricultural products. Licences will be granted in respect of food, medicine and supplies intended strictly for medical purposes.
