HEALTH CONTRIBUTIONS (YEARLY RECKONABLE INCOME) (VARIATION) REGULATIONS, 1980.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sub-section (3) of section 9 of the Health Contributions Act, 1979 (No. 4 of 1979) hereby makes the following Regulations as respects which, pursuant to subsection (5) of the said section, a draft has been approved by a resolution of each House of the Oireachtas.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health Contributions (Yearly Reckonable Income) (Variation) Regulations,1980.

2. The sum of £5,500 inserted by the Health Contributions (Rate of Contribution and Yearly Reckonable Income) (Confirmation and Variation) Regulations, 1979, in sections 5 (2), 6 (2) and 8 of the Health Contributions Act, 1979 , is hereby varied with effect from the 6th day of April, 1980, by the substitution therefor of a sum of £7,000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 9 (3) of the Health Contributions Act, 1979 , provides that the Minister for Health may by regulations vary the ceiling amount specified in sections 5 (2), 6 (2) and 8 of the Act. The present income ceiling is £5,500 and it is proposed that it should be varied to £7,000. The changed income ceiling would operate from the beginning of the next contribution year which commences on 6 April, 1980.
