EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS OF FERTILISERS) REGULATIONS, 1979.

I, RAY MAC SHARRY, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive No. 79/138 /EEC, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Sampling and Analysis of Fertilisers) Regulations, 1979.

2. Regulation 2 of the European Communities (Sampling and Analysis of Fertilisers) Regulations, 1978 ( S.I. No. 12 of 1978 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the definition of "the directive" of the following definition:

" 'the directive' means Commission Directive No. 77/535/EEC of 22 June, 1977, ^(a) as amended by Commission Directive No. 79/138/EEC of 14 December, 1978 ^(b);".

3. References in the European Communities (Marketing of Fertilisers) Regulations, 1978 ( S.I. No. 13 of 1978 ), to the European Communities (Sampling and Analysis of Fertilisers) Regulations, 1978, shall be construed as references to those Regulations as amended by these Regulations.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations implement the provisions of Commission Directive (79/138/EEC) which lays down methods for determining water soluble magnesium and total magnesium in fertilisers marketed under the designation "EEC fertiliser".
