DISTRICT COURT AREAS AND DISTRICTS (VARIATION OF DAYS, HOURS AND DISTRICTS) ORDER, 1979.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 (1) of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the District Court Areas and Districts (Variation of Days, Hours and Districts) Order, 1979.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1979.

2. In this Order " the Principal Order " means the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 (No. 5 of 1961).

3. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Balbriggan shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 73 in the First Schedule, and in column (4) at reference number 65 in the Second Schedule, to the Principal Order, be the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month and the third Thursday in January, March, May, July, September and November at 11.00 a.m.

4. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Howth shall, in lieu of the days and hours (as amended by the District Court (Variation of Hours) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 103 of 1965 )) specified in column (4) at reference number 75 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order, be the first and third Monday and the second Friday in each month and the fourth Thursday in February, April, June, October and December at 10.30 a.m., 12.00 noon, and 2.00 p.m.

5. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Lucan shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 77 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order, be the first Thursday and the second and fourth Mondays of each month and the third Wednesday in February, April, June, October and December at 11.00 a.m.

6. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Swords shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 79 in the First Schedule, and in column (4) at reference number 69 in the Second Schedule, to the Principal Order, be the first and third Tuesdays and the second Thursday in each month at 11.00 a.m.

7. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Trim shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 195 in the First Schedule, and in column (4) at reference number 165 in the Second Schedule, to the Principal Order, be the first Wednesday and the fourth Thursday in each month at 11.00 a.m.

8. The District Court Area of Longwood mentioned at reference number 192 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby abolished.

9. The District Court Area of Trim is hereby varied by the addition to the district electoral divisions mentioned in column (5) at reference number 195 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order of the district electoral divisions of Ardnamullen, Ballyboggan, Castlerickard, Hill of Down, Innfield, Killyon and Rahinstown in the county of Meath and the district electoral division of Ballynadrumny in the county of Kildare.

10. The First Schedule to the District Court (Districts) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 6 of 1961 ), is hereby amended by the deletion in column (3) at reference number 10 of " Longwood ".

11. The Schedule to the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ), is hereby amended by the deletion in column (4) at reference number 10 of " Longwood ".

12. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and is not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for additional sittings of the District Court at Balbriggan, Howth, Lucan, Swords and Trim. It also provides for the abolition of the District Court Area of Longwood and the attachment of the district electoral divisions which comprise that Area to the Trim District Court Area.
