DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES ACT, 1972 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1979.

I, GENE FITZGERALD, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (No. 10 of 1972), as amended by section 1 of the Dangerous Substances (Amendment) Act, 1979 (No. 21 of 1979), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (Commencement) Order, 1979.

2. (1) The Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (No. 10 of 1972), apart from the provisions relating to explosives, shall come into operation on the 28th day of September, 1979.

(2) In paragraph (1), "the provisions relating to explosives" means—

( a ) Part II,

( b ) section 7 (1) and the Schedule in so far as they refer to the Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act, 1854, the Explosives Act, 1875, the Customs and Inland Revenue Act, 1883, the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1898, and the Revenue Act, 1909,

( c ) section 7 (2), and

( d ) any other provision of the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 , to the extent that the provision is applicable to or for the purposes of explosives within the meaning of section 9 (1) of that Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order appoints the 28th day of September, 1979 as the day on which the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (No. 10 of 1972) comes into operation.
