FACTORIES (REPORT OF EXAMINATION OF STEAM RECEIVERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1978.

I, GENE FITZGERALD, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 6 and 41 (6) of the Factories Act, 1955 , (No. 10 of 1955), and the Labour (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1966, ( S.I. No. 164 of 1966 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Factories (Report of Examination of Steam Receivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978.

(2) The Factories (Report of Examination of Steam Receivers) Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 184 of 1956 ) and these Regulations may be cited together as the Factories (Report of Examination of Steam Receivers) Regulations, 1956 and 1978.

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 21st day of December, 1978.

2. The Schedule to the Factories (Report of Examination of Steam Receivers) Regulations, 1956, is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Schedule to these Regulations.

SCHEDULE.

"1. Name of occupier of factory.

2. Address of factory.

3. Description and distinguishing number of receiver and types of receiver.

4. Date of construction (if ascertainable) together with a brief history of the receiver.

5. Date of last hydraulic test (if any) and pressure applied and period of time for which pressure was maintained.

6. Maximum pressure of steam at source of supply to the receiver.

7. Particulars as to—

( a ) parts (if any) inaccessible at time of examination,

( b ) the examination and tests made,

( c ) condition of the receiver, including particulars of a defect materially affecting the safe working pressure.

8. Particulars as to whether—

( a ) the receiver is so constructed as to withstand with safety the maximum pressure of steam at source of supply,

( b ) the fittings and appliances are in accordance with the requirements of the Factories Act, 1955 ,

( c ) the fittings and appliances are properly maintained in good condition.

9. Repairs (if any) required and the date after which the receiver must not be used if the repairs specified have not been executed and any other conditions which the competent person making the examination considers it necessary to specify for securing safe working.

10. ( a ) Safe working pressure calculated from dimensions and other data ascertained by the examination; due allowance being made for conditions of working if unusual or exceptionally severe;

( b ) where repairs affecting the working pressure are required, safe working pressure—

(i) before the expiration of the date specified in paragraph 9,

(ii) after the expiration of such date, if the required repairs have not been completed,

(iii) after the completion of the required repairs.

11. The date of examination and by whom it was carried out".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Factories (Report of Examination of Steam Receivers) Regulations, 1956. They substitute revised particulars to be included in the reports of examination of steam receivers required under Section 41 of the Factories Act, 1955 .
