EXCHANGE CONTROL (CONTINUANCE AND AMENDMENT) ACT, 1978 (COMMENCEMENT OF SECTION 5 (1)) ORDER, 1978.

I, SEOIRSE Ó COLLA, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 (2) of the Exchange Control (Continuance and Amendment) Act, 1978 (No. 24 of 1978), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Exchange Control (Continuance and Amendment) Act, 1978 (Commencement of Section 5 (1)) Order, 1978.

2. The 18th day of December, 1978, is hereby fixed as the day on which section 5 (1) of the Exchange Control (Continuance and Amendment) Act, 1978 , shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order appoints the 18th day of December, 1978 as the day on which section 5 (1) of the Exchange Control (Continuance and Amendment) Act, 1978 becomes effective. The effect of that section is to amend section 16 (2) of the Exchange Control Act, 1954 by extending the export prohibitions in that section to Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
