AN ACT TO AMEND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES (HIGHER EDUCATION GRANTS) ACT, 1968 . [6th December, 1978] |

BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS: |

Amendment of Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act, 1968. |
1.—(1) The Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act, 1968 , is hereby amended by the substitution of the following definition for the definition of “approved institution”: |

“‘approved institution’ means a university, university college, or other institution of higher education in so far as it provides a course or courses of not less than two years duration, being a course or courses of which the Minister approves for the time being for the purposes of section 2 of this Act.” |
||||||||
|
(2) This section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1974. |

Short title and collective citation. |
2.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act, 1978. |

(2) The Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act, 1968 , and this Act may be cited together as the Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Acts, 1968 and 1978. |
