IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (DUMPING AND SUBSIDIES) (PROVISIONAL DUTY ON STEEL BARS AND ANGLES) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1977.

WHEREAS during an investigation by An Coimisiún Dumpála under section 7 of the Imposition of Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) Act, 1968 (No. 11 of 1968), in relation to goods of the kind specified in Article 2 of the Order following, that Commission recommended to the Minister for Industry and Commerce that a provisional duty at the rates specified in the said Article 2 be imposed for a period of six months on goods of the kind aforesaid:

NOW, I, Justin Keating, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the said Imposition of Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) Act, 1968 , hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) (Provisional Duty on Steel Bars and Angles) (No. 2) Order, 1977.

2. (1) A provisional duty at the rates specified in paragraph (2) of this Article shall be charged, levied and paid on goods of the following description that are imported into the State between the 8th day of March, 1977, and the 7th day of September, 1977, that is to say, on steel bars and rods which are classified at tariff code number 7310-032, and steel angles which are classified at tariff code number 7311-064, in the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs and Excise Duties and Form of Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 ), and which originate in, or are exported from, the Republic of South Africa.

(2) The duty imposed by this Order shall be at the following rates, that is to say,—

(a) in the case of steel bars and rods, at the rate of £20.00 per tonne, and

(b) in the case of steel angles, at the rate of £16.00 per tonne.

3. For the purposes of this Order, the country of origin of goods shall be determined in accordance with the rules of origin contained in Council Regulation (EEC) 802/68* of the 27th day of June, 1968.

4. The duty imposed by this Order is hereby placed under the care and management of the Revenue Commissioners.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the imposition for a period of six months of provisional duties of £20 per tonne on steel bars and rods and £16 per tonne on steel angles originating in South Africa.
