CHARGES (MEDICAL AND VETERINARY SERVICES) DISPLAY ORDER, 1976.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 19 of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Charges (Medical and Veterinary Services) Display Order, 1976.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 9th day of August, 1976.

3. (1) A person who is—

( a ) a registered medical practitioner within the meaning of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1927 (No. 25 of 1927),

( b ) a registered dentist within the meaning of the Dentists Act, 1928 (No. 25 of 1928),

( c ) a registered optician within the meaning of the Opticians Act, 1956 (No. 17 of 1956), or

( d ) a physiotherapist,

shall exhibit a notice setting out the charges for every professional service rendered by the person (other than services rendered in a hospital, clinic or similar institution elsewhere than in a consulting room set apart for the use of the person) in his capacity as a medical practitioner, dentist, optician or physiotherapist, as the case may be.

(2) A person who is a registered veterinary surgeon within the meaning of the Veterinary Surgeons Act, 1931 (No. 36 of 1931), shall exhibit a notice setting out the charges for every professional service rendered by the person in his capacity as a veterinary surgeon.

(3) A person who is a chiropodist shall exhibit a notice setting out the charges for every professional service rendered by the person in his capacity as a chiropodist.

4. (1) A notice specified in Article 3 of this Order shall be exhibited—

( a ) in every place where a professional service specified in the notice is rendered by the person to whose services it relates, being a place to which persons go for the purpose of obtaining such a service, and

( b ) in such a position in every such place as to be clearly visible to and capable of being easily read by all persons who are in that place for the purpose of obtaining such a service.

(2) The letters and figures on a notice specified in Article 3 of this Order shall be at least 6 millimetres in height and of proportionate width.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order requires every person who is a medical practitioner, a dentist, an optician, a physiotherapist, a chiropodist, or a veterinary surgeon to display in a specified manner the fees charged for every professional service rendered by him (other than services rendered in a hospital, clinic or similar institution elsewhere than in a consulting room set apart for the use of the person) in his capacity as a medical practitioner, a dentist, an optician, a physiotherapist, a chiropodist, or a veterinary surgeon as the case may be.
