EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations 1953 to 1975, include provision for the payment of special rate employers' contributions in respect of persons employed on foreign-going ships or ships engaged in regular trade on foreign stations. The occupational injuries insurance portion of the weekly contribution for such persons was, as a result of the Social Welfare Act, 1976 , increased by 2p as from 5th April, 1976. The occupational injuries contributions are paid into the Social Insurance Fund in the first instance and subsequently transferred to the Occupational Injuries Fund.

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations 1953 to 1975, so as to provide for the transfer of the new contributions from the Social Insurance Fund to the Occupational Injuries Fund and also to provide for a penny increase in the contribution rates for Civil Servants.
