S.I. No. 74/1976 - European Communities (Imports From State-Trading Countries) Regulations, 1976.


I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Imports from State-Trading Countries) Regulations, 1976, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1976.

2. In these regulations references to an Annex are to an Annex to Council Decision 75/210/EEC1 as amended by Council Decision 75/788/EEC2.

3. The references to goods in Section (e) of Annex III, IV, V, VI or VII or in Section (d) of Annex VIII, IX or X shall be construed as references to such of those goods as are subject to the prohibition on importation into the State imposed by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 2) Order, 1934 (S.R. & O., No. 231 of 1934), the Control of Imports (Quota No. 51) (Miscellaneous Textiles) Order, 1964 ( S.I. No. 297 of 1964 ), or the Control of Imports (Quota No. 52) (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) Order, 1964 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1964 .)

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to enable the identification in the national Tariff Code system, of goods which will be subject to Community quotas for 1976 in respect of state trading countries so as to leave no doubt as to the goods comprehended.
