S.I. No. 164/1975 - Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1975.


I, PATRICK COONEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), as adapted by the Public Service (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 294 of 1973 ), hereby, with the sanction of the Minister for the Public Service and after compliance with the provisions of subsection (2) of that section, order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1975.

(2) This Order shall be deemed to have come into effect on the 1st day of August, 1969.

2. The Garda Síochána Pensions Orders, 1925 to 1972, and this Order may be cited together as the Garda Síochána Pensions Orders, 1925 to 1975.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

4. Paragraph C (2) (inserted by the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1955 )) of Part II of the First Schedule to the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1925 (S.R. & O., No. 63 of 1925), shall have effect as if "twenty-one years" were substituted for "eighteen years" in each place where it occurs.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the payment of an allowance up to 21 years, in lieu of the age limit of 18 years, in respect of children of deceased members of the Garda Síochána who are receiving full-time education.
