S.I. No. 192 of 1974.

GAELTACHT AREAS ORDER, 1974.

WHEREAS the areas specified in the Schedule to this Order are substantially Irish speaking areas or areas contiguous thereto which, in the opinion of the Government, ought to be included in the Gaeltacht with a view to preserving and extending the use of Irish as a vernacular language:

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 2 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1956 (No. 21 of 1956), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Gaeltacht Areas Order, 1974.

2. The Gaeltacht Areas Orders, 1956 and 1967, and this Order may be cited together as the Gaeltacht Areas Orders, 1956 to 1974.

3. The areas specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby determined to be Gaeltacht areas for the purposes of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1956 (No. 21 of 1956).

SCHEDULE.

County of Kerry.

1. The district electoral divisions of Ballyduff, Cloghane and Brandon.

2. That part of the district electoral division of Stradbally comprised in the townlands of Farrandalouge, Fermoyle and Scraggane.

County of Waterford.

1. (1) That part of the district electoral division of Ardmore comprised in the townlands of Carrigeen, Coolroe, Monamraher, Monnaneea, Monameean, Reenaclogheen, Reanagullee, Rusheens, Scordaun and Scrahans.

(2) That part of the district electoral division of Ballymacart comprised in the townlands of Ahaun, Ballynaharda, Ballymacart Upper, Hacketstown, Ballykilmurry, Ballinroad, Kilcolman, Knocknagappul, Farranalounty, Gowlaun, Gates, Moanfoun, Monagoush, Rathlead and Gowlaun Mountain.

(3) That part of the district electoral division of Ringville comprised in the townlands of Barranaleaha, Cunnigar, Gorteen, Readoty and Shanbally.
