HOUSING ACT, 1970 (SUPPLEMENTARY GRANTS) REGULATIONS, 1973.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Housing Act, 1966 (No. 21 of 1966) and section 26 of the said Act as amended by section 10 of the Housing Act, 1970 (No. 18 of 1970) with the consent of the Minister for Finance hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Act, 1970 (Supplementary Grants) Regulations, 1973.

2. The appropriate limit for the purposes of paragraph (b) of section 26 (1) of the Housing Act, 1966 shall be—

one thousand five hundred pounds per annum in respect of a house the erection of which was commenced within the period beginning on 1st July, 1972, and ending on 24th May, 1973,

one thousand seven hundred pounds per annum in respect of a house for which an application for a supplementary grant was received on or after 25th May, 1973.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations lay down the qualifyng income limits of eligibility for supplementary new house grants payable by housing authorities under Section 26 of the Housing Act, 1966 as amended by Section 10 of the Housing Act, 1970 .

The Regulations provide that for the purposes of determination by a housing authority of the income of an applicant for a new house supplementary grant, the qualifying income limit for eligibility for such a grant shall not exceed £1,500 in respect of houses the erection of which commenced between 1st July, 1972 and 24th May, 1973 and shall not exceed £1,700 in respect of applications for supplementary grants received on or after 25th May, 1973.
