LIVE STOCK (BOARS) (UNSUITABLE TYPES) REGULATIONS 1958 (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1972.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 5 of the Live Stock Breeding Act, 1925 (No. 3 of 1925) (as applied by the Live Stock Breeding Act, 1925 (Application to Boars) Orders, 1930 and 1958), and the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), and having complied with the requirements of the said subsection, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Live Stock (Boars) (Unsuitable Types) Regulations, 1958 (Amendment) Regulations, 1972.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. Article 3 of the Live Stock (Boars) (Unsuitable Types) Regulations, 1958 ( S.I. No. 94 of 1958 ), is hereby amended by the insertion after paragraph (b) of the following:

"(c) Pedigree boars of the Welsh breed entered, or accepted for entry, in a herd book recognized by the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Live Stock (Boars) (Unsuitable Types) Regulations, 1958. Their effect is to declare that in addition to Irish Large White and Landrace boars pedigree boars of the Welsh breed, entered or accepted for entry in a recognized herd book, may also be considered suitable for breeding.
