GAME BIRDS PROTECTION (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1972.

I, SEÁN FLANAGAN, Minister for Lands, being satisfied that the following species of game birds, namely, mallard, teal, widgeon and any other species of wild duck, are in special need of further protection in the whole of the State, do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 of the Game Preservation Act, 1930 (No. 11 of 1930), and the Game Preservation Act, 1930 (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1958 ( S.I. No. 186 of 1958 ), order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Game Birds Protection (Amendment) Order, 1972.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The First Schedule to the Game Birds Protection Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1972 ), is hereby varied by the substitution for the entry in the second column of that Schedule opposite the mention in the first column of that Schedule of Mallard, Teal, Widgeon and other species of wild duck, of the following entry :

"From the 12th day of August, 1972, to the 14th day of September, 1972, both days inclusive, and from the 1st day of February, 1973, to the 28th day of February, 1973, both days inclusive ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this order is to extend in respect of the 1972-73 period, the annual close season prescribed in the Game Preservation Act, 1930 , and the Game Birds Protection Order, 1972, for the game birds listed in this order.
