SOCIAL WELFARE (DESERTED WIFE'S ALLOWANCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1972.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952 ) and sections 21 and 22 of the Social Welfare Act, 1970 (No. 12 of 1970), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 227 of 1970 ) may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970 and 1972.

2. Sub-article (2) of article 4 of the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970, is hereby amended by the deletion of the words "irregular and".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Existing regulations provide that in determining whether or not a husband contributes to the support and maintenance of his wife, contributions which are irregular and inconsiderable may be disregarded. These regulations enable regular contributions, if they are inconsiderable, to be disregarded in the same way as irregular contributions.
