AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS (RESTRICTION OF EXPORT OF SUGAR COMMODITIES AND SWEETENED MILK POWDER COMMODITIES) ORDER, 1972.

I, PATRICK J. LALOR, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by virtue of section 2 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947), and the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (Transfer of Powers) Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 52 of 1956 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Agricultural Products (Restriction of Export of Sugar Commodities and Sweetened Milk Powder Commodities Order), 1972.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of March, 1972.

2. In this Order "sweetened milk powder commodity" means any commodity which contains milk powder and to which sweetening matter other than sugar has been added in the course of preparation.

3. Subject to Article 4 of this Order, the exportation of any of the following, namely—

(a) any commodity (excluding sugar syrups, invert sugar, liquid sugar, condensed milk, chocolate crumb and beer) made from sugar or sugar syrup, invert sugar, liquid sugar or sugar in any other form or to which sugar or sugar syrup, invert sugar, liquid sugar or sugar in any other form has been added in the course of preparation, and

(b) any sweetened milk powder commodity,

is hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued under the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947).

4. This Order shall not apply to the exportation by parcel post of any commodity mentioned in Article 3 of this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to enable the Minister for Industry and Commerce to control the export of commodities containing sugar in any form and also of sweetened milk powder commodities.
