ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF CLARE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1971.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Clare) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1971.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Clare) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 199 of 1968 ).

4. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the addition of the following references—

"10. The following roads at Broadford:—

(a) The Scarriff-Limerick road between a point 70 yards west of its junction with the Violet Hill Road and a point 105 yards south of its junction with the Bridgetown Road.

(b) The Violet Hill Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Scariff-Limerick road.

(c) The O'Callaghan's Mills Road for a distance of 110 yards from its junction with the Scarriff- Limerick road.

(d) The Kilseily Road for a distance of 130 yards from its junction with the Scarriff-Limerick road.

(e) The Bridgetown Road for a distance of 95 yards from its junction with the Scarriff-Limerick road.

(f) The Kilbane Road for a distance of 135 yards from junction with the Scarriff-Limerick road.

11. The following roads at Corofin:

(a) The Ennis-Lisdoonvarna road from a point 40 yards south-east of its junction with the Ennistymon Road to a point 40 yards north of its junction with the Lough Inchiquin Road.

(b) The Ennistymon Road for a distance of 30 yards from its junction with the Ennis-Lisdoonvarna road.

(c) The Gort Road for a distance of 255 yards from its junction with the Ennis-Lisdoonvarna road.

(d) The Lough Inchiquin Road for a distance of 40 yards from its junction with the Ennis-Lisdoonvarna road.

12. The following roads at Crusheen:

(a) The Galway-Ennis road from a point 200 yards north of its junction with the Tulla Road to a point 60 yards south of its junction with the Station Road.

(b) The Station Road for a distance of 10 yards from its junction with the Galway-Ennis road.

(c) The Tulla Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with the Galway-Ennis road.

(d) The Ballinruan Road for a distance of 80 yards from its junction with the Tulla Road.

13. The following roads at Doonbeg:

(a) The Kilkee-Milltown Malbay road from a point 30 yards west of its junction with the White Strand Road to a point 500 yards west of its junction with the Newtown Road.

(b) White Strand Road for a distance of 20 yards from its junction with the Kilkee-Milltown Malbay road.

(c) The Rhynaganach Road for a distance of 20 yards from its junction with the Kilkee-Milltown Malbay road.

(d) The Kilrush Road for a distance of 125 yards from its junction with the Kilkee-Milltown Malbay road.

14. The following roads at Kilkishen:

(a) The Tulla-Sixmilebridge road from a point 30 yards north of its junction with the O'Callaghan's Mills Road to a point 605 yards west of that junction.

(b) The O'Callaghan's Mills Road for a distance of 355 yards from its junction with the Tulla-Sixmilebridge road.

(c) The Killanena Road for a distance of 380 yards from its junction with the O'Callaghan's Mills Road.

15. The following roads at Killaloe:

(a) Main Street, Thomas Street, Chapel Street, Royal Parade, The Green, Courthouse Road, Cross Road.

(b) The Limerick Road for a distance of 400 yards from its junction with Abbey Street.

(c) Abbey Street and its continuation as the Garraunboy road to a point 100 yards west of its junction with the Cross Road.

(d) The Hill Road for a distance of 35 yards south west of its junction with the Cross Road.

(e) New Street and its continuation in a north westerly direction to its junction with the Scarriff Road.

(f) The road connecting New Street with the Scarriff Road.

(g) The Scarriff Road to a point 420 yards north of its junction with the continuation of New Street.

(h) The portion of Killaloe Bridge lying south west of the common boundary of the counties of Clare and Tipperary.

16. The following roads at Milltown Malbay:

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Church Road 450 yards north east of the junction of Church Street with the Ennistymon Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points—

(a) in a south easterly direction to a point on the Ballard Road 420 yards east of its junction with Church Street,

(b) in a southerly direction to a point on the Ennis Road 400 yards south-east of its junction with Main Street,

(c) in a south-westerly direction to a point on the Mullagh Road 350 yards south of its junction with Main Street,

(d) in a north-westerly direction to a point on the Spanish Point or Flag Road 380 yards south- west of its junction with Main Street,

(e) in a northerly direction to a point on the Ennistymon Road 265 yards north-west of its junction with Church Street,

(f) in a north-easterly direction to the commencement point on Church Road.

17. The following roads at Tulla:

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Gort Road 230 yards north-west of its junction with the Doonaun Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points—

(a) In a southerly direction to a point on the Ennis Road 50 yards south west of its junction with the Limerick Road,

(b) in a south easterly direction to a point on the Limerick Road 150 yards south-east of its junction with the Ennis Road,

(c) in a north easterly direction to a point on the Ashlar Road 180 yards south-east of its junction with Chapel Street,

(d) in a northerly direction to a point on the Courthouse Road 500 yards north east of its junction with Main Street,

(e) in a westerly direction to the commencement point on the Gort Road.",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 6 (b) of "640" for "280",

(iii) by the deletion at reference 8 of "(other than the road set out at reference 4 in the Third Schedule)".

5. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the addition of the following references—

"5 .The following road at Bunratty:

The Limerick-Ennis road from a point 250 yards east of the centre point of Bunratty Bridge to a point 800 yards west of that centre point.

6. The following road at Killaloe:—

The Scarriff Road for a distance of 460 yards northwards from a point 420 yards north of the junction of that road with the continuation of New Street.

7. The following road at Milltown Malbay:

The Spanish Point or Flag Road between a point 380 yards south-west of its junction with Main Street and a point 900 yards south-west of that junction.",

(ii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 1 (b) of "The Gort Road between its junction with the Sandfield Road and point 1690 yards north of that junction.",

(iii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Clare) Regulations, 1968 and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Clare.
