COINAGE (CALLING IN) ORDER, 1971. |

I, SEOIRSE Ó COLLA, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), hereby make the following order: |
||
|
1. This Order may be cited as the Coinage (Calling In) Order, 1971. |
||
|
2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1972. |
||
|
3. Coins of the denominations of penny, threepence and sixpence are hereby called in. |
||
|
GIVEN under my Official Seal this 29th day of June 1971. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
|
The effect of this Order is that pennies, threepences and sixpences shall cease to be legal tender on and from 1 January 1972 and may not circulate or be used as currency on and from that date. |
