INSURANCE (INTERMITTENT UNEMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1942 (AMENDMENT OF RATES OF SUPPLEMENTARY BENEFIT) REGULATIONS, 1971.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the joint operation of Section 46 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), and the Social Welfare (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 1) Order, 1947 (S.R. & O., No. 18 of 1947), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following regulations :

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited at the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1971.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 18th day of January, 1971.

2. The Third Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 188 of 1966 ), is hereby amended—

(a) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 6s 0d (30p) for the rate of 3s 8d, and

(b) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 5s 0d (25p) for the rate of 3s 1d, and

(c) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 2s 0d (10p) for the rate of 1s 2d.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the Regulations is to increase the hourly rates of " Wet-Time " benefit payable under the Acts.

The hourly benefit rates are fixed by these Regulations as from 18th January, 1971, as follows :
