DISTRICT COURT DISTRICTS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1970.

I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the District Court Districts (Amendment) Order, 1970.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1970.

3. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the District Court (Districts) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 6 of 1961 ).

4. Notwithstanding anything in the Principal Order, the district court area mentioned in column (2) of the Schedule to the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ), at a particular reference number and the district court areas mentioned in column (3) of the Second Schedule to the Principal Order at that reference number shall, during the month of August in each year, form a district for the purposes of the District Court and shall be deemed to be the district created by the Principal Order and mentioned in column (2) of the First and Second Schedules to the Principal Order at that reference number.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order redefines District Court Districts in terms of the District Court Areas created by the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970, S.I. No. 161 of 1970 . The two orders together provide that apart from the limited sittings for the transaction of urgent summary business in each District Court District during August as set out in the schedule to the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970, sittings of the District Court will not be held during the month of August or for periods at Christmas and Easter.
