SIR PATRICK DUN'S HOSPITAL BOARD (MODIFICATION) ORDER, 1969.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (7) of section 8 and section 22 of the Hospitals Federation and Amalgamation Act, 1961 (No. 21 of 1961) and in accordance with the request of the Hospital Board of Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital, hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital Board (Modification) Order, 1969.

2. In this order the phrase " the Act of 1800 " has the meaning assigned to it in section 1 of the Hospitals Federation and Amalgamation Act, 1961 .

3. The provisions of section 4 of the Act of 1800 are hereby modified in the following manner :—

(a) The Hospital Board of Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital shall be composed of a board of sixteen persons, each of whom shall be a subscriber to the building or maintenance of the said hospital and not more than four of whom may be either physicians, surgeons or other registered medical practitioners who attend patients in the said hospital.

(b) At the first meeting of the Hospital Board to be held after the 25th day of June, 1969 or at the next convenient meeting thereafter the Board shall fill by co-option under subsection (4) of section 8 of the Hospitals Federation and Amalgamation Act, 1961 , the vacancies in the membership of the Board arising through the increase to sixteen in the number of persons composing the membership of the Board.

(c) The quorum for a meeting of the Hospital Board shall be six members.

(d) At a meeting of the Hospital Board—

(i) The person who is for the time being elected by the Hospital Board to be Chairman of the Hospital Board shall, if he is present, be chairman of the meeting.

(ii) if and so long as the Chairman of the Hospital Board is not present or if the office of Chairman is vacant, the person who is for the time being elected by the Hospital Board to be the Vice-Chairman of the Hospital Board shall, if and so long as he is present, be chairman of the meeting.

(iii) if and so long as the Chairman of the Hospital Board is not present or if the office of Chairman is vacant and the Vice-Chairman is not present or the office of Vice-Chairman is vacant, the members of the Hospital Board who are present shall choose one of their number to be chairman of the meeting.

(e) Every question at a meeting of the Hospital Board shall be determined by a majority of the votes of the members present and voting on the question and, in the case of an equal division of votes, the chairman of the meeting shall have a second or casting vote save where the question is the election of the Chairman of the Hospital Board.

(f) The Hospital Board may act notwithstanding one or more vacancies amongst its members.

(g) Subject to the provisions of the Hospitals Federation and and Amalgamation Act, 1961, the Hospital Board may, by standing orders or otherwise, regulate the procedure and business of the Board.

4. The Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital Board (Modification) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 241 of 1967 ) is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order revokes the Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital Board (Modification) Order, 1967, S.I. No. 241 of 1967 .

This Order enables the membership of the Hospital Board to be increased from twelve to sixteen, not more than four of whom may be either physicians, surgeons or other registered medical practitioners who attend patients in the hospital.
