TOBACCO (AREAS FOR 1969) ORDER, 1968.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 11 of the Tobacco Act, 1934 (No. 37 of 1934), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Tobacco (Areas for 1969) Order, 1968.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. (1) The maximum total number of areas which may be planted with tobacco in the year 1969 shall be one thousand five hundred acres.

(2) The maximum number of acres which may be planted with tobacco in the year 1969 by any one person shall be six acres.

(3) The minimum area which may be planted with tobacco in the year 1969 by any one person, other than a person who satisfies the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries that he proposes to grow tobacco in such a year for experimental purposes, shall be a half-acre.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order fixes the maximum acreage which may be planted with tobacco in 1969 and also the maximum and minimum acreages which may be planted by an individual grower.
