ELECTRICITY (SPECIAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 1966 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1968.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section 1 (2) of the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966 , that whenever and so often as the Government are satisfied that, in consequence of a trade dispute, there is a serious disruption of electricity supplies or imminent danger of such disruption, the Government may by order declare that they are satisfied as aforesaid and appoint a day on which the said Act shall come into operation.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 (2) of the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966 (No. 13 of 1966), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966 (Commencement) Order, 1968.

2. It is hereby declared that the Government are satisfied that, in consequence of a trade dispute, there is imminent danger of a serious disruption of electricity supplies.

3. The 26th day of March, 1968, is hereby appointed as the day on which the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966 (No. 13 of 1966), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Instrument brings into operation the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966 , under which it is unlawful for a person to initiate, take part in or assist a strike to which that Act applies.
