PATENTS, DESIGNS AND TRADE MARKS (INTERNATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1968.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by subsection (5) of section 152 of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Act, 1927 (No. 16 of 1927), as adapted by section 2 of the Executive Powers (Consequential Provisions) Act, 1937 (No. 20 of 1937), subsection (5) of section 70 of the Trade Marks Act, 1963 (No. 9 of 1963), and section 93 of the Patents Act, 1964 (No. 12 of 1964), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (International Arrangements) (Amendment) Order, 1968.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (International Arrangements) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1959 ), shall have effect as if in the First Schedule thereto (as amended by the Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (International Arrangements) (Amendment) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1966 ))—

( a ) "Argentina" were inserted after "Algeria",

( b ) "Cyprus" were inserted after "Cuba",

( c ) "Dahomey" were inserted after "Czechoslovakia",

( d ) "Malta" were inserted after "Malawi",

( e ) "Togo" were inserted after "Tanzania",

( f ) "United States of America together with the territories of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands (U.S.), Samoa (U.S.), and Guam" were substituted for "United States of America", and

( g ) "Uruguay" were inserted after "Upper Volta".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The amendment extends the effect of the principal Order to Argentina, Cyprus, Dahomey, Malta, Togo, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands (U.S.), Samoa (U.S.), Guam and Uruguay.
