ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY BOROUGH OF DUBLIN AND COUNTY OF DUBLIN) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1967.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) after consultation with the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and the road authority concerned and, as respects articles 4, 5 and 6 on the application of the said Commissioner hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967.

(2) These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1967 shall be construed as one.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1967.

3. In these Regulations—

"Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 93 of 1967 ).

4. Article 5 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following sub-article:—

"(3) Sixty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Fifth Schedule to these Regulations."

5. (1) The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended in the manner specified in Schedule A to these Regulations.

(2) The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended by the addition thereto of the roads described in Schedule B to these Regulations.

(3) The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the roads described in Schedule C to these Regulations.

6. The Principal Regulations are hereby further amended by the addition thereto of the following Schedule :—

"FIFTH SCHEDULE

Roads in respect of which a special speed limit of 60 miles per hour is prescribed.

The following road in the County of Dublin:

The Naas Road dual-carriageway between a point 240 yards south-west of its junction with the Boot Road and the boundary of the counties of Dublin and Kildare."

SCHEDULE A

Amendments to the Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations.

There shall be substituted at reference 4(v)

"The Naas Road and its continuation as the Naas Road dual-carriageway between its junction with Tyrconnell Road and a point 275 yards south-west of Newlands Cross" for the matter at the said reference.

SCHEDULE B

Roads added to the Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations.

2A. The following roads at Clondalkin:—

(a) The Monastery Road for a distance of 25 yards from its junction with the Naas Road.

(b) The New Road for a distance of 25 yards from its junction with the Naas Road.

(c) The Belgard Road for a distance of 150 yards from its junction with the Naas Road.

SCHEDULE C

Roads added to the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Regulations.

3. The following roads at Clondalkin:—

(a) The Boot Road for a distance of 25 yards from its junction with the Naas Road dual-carriageway.

(b) The Naas Road dual-carriageway between a point 275 yards south-west of Newlands Cross and a point 240 yards south-west of its junction with the Boot Road.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1967, in their application to certain roads in the County of Dublin. The Regulations impose speed limits of 40 m.p.h., 50 m.p.h. and 60 m.p.h. on sections of the Dublin-Naas road and of 40 m.p.h. and 50 m.p.h. on sections of certain roads which junction with this road.
