DISABLED PERSONS (MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1966.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), and by subsection (5) of section 50 of the Health Act, 1953 (No. 26 of 1953), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations, 1966.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1966.

3. The Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 176 of 1965 ) are hereby revoked.

4. Article 4 of the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 142 of 1963 ) is hereby amended by the deletion of sub-article (3) and the substitution therefor of the following:—

" (3) A maintenance allowance payable in accordance with this article shall be at a rate not exceeding two pounds, seven shillings and sixpence per week in the case of a person who has no means and in all other cases at a rate not exceeding two pounds, two shillings and sixpence per week."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to increase from two pounds, two shillings and sixpence per week to two pounds, seven shillings and six pence per week the maximum maintenance allowance payable under section 50 (5) of the Health Act, 1953 to a disabled person who has no means.
