MEAT (REGULATION OF IMPORT) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1966.

I, CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Agricultural Products (Regulation of Import) Act, 1938 (No. 14 of 1938), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby, after consultation with the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce, order as follows :

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Meat (Regulation of Import) (Amendment) Order, 1966.

(2) The Meat (Regulation of Import) Order, 1938 (S.R. & O., No· 336 of 1938), and this Order may be cited together as the Meat (Regulation of Import) Orders, 1938 and 1966.

(3) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1966.

2. The Meat (Regulation of Import) Order, 1938, shall be amended as follows :

(a) " ; the expression ' the United Kingdom ' means Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands " is hereby inserted after " consumption " in Article 2 ; and

(b) the following paragraph is hereby substituted for paragraph (a) of Article 3,

" (a) such meat was produced in and consigned from the United Kingdom, or ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides that as from 1st July, 1966 an import licence under the Meat (Regulation of Import) Order, 1938, is not required in the case of meat imported into this country which was produced in and consigned direct from the United Kingdom.
