MECHANICALLY PROPELLED VEHICLES (INTERNATIONAL CIRCULATION) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1966.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 38 of the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955) and sections 5 and 42 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) hereby makes the following regulations and order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) (Amendment) Order, 1966.

2. The Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) Orders 1961 to 1964, and this Order shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) Orders 1961 to 1966.

3. In this Order—

the "Principal Order" means the Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 269 of 1961 );

the "Order of 1964" means the Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) (Amendment) Order, 1964 ( S.I. No. 59 of 1964 ).

4.—(1) Sub-article (5) of article 14 of the Principal Order, as substituted by article 4 of the Order of 1964, is hereby amended by the deletion therefrom of the word "not".

(2) Paragraph (f) of sub-article (1) of article 15 of the Principal Order, as substituted by article 4 of the Order of 1964, is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to amend the Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) Orders 1961 to 1964, so as to provide that the holders of foreign driving licences, international driving permits and visitor's driving licences shall be qualified persons for the purpose of accompanying the holders of provisional licences while the latter are driving mechanically propelled vehicles.
