SAVINGS BANKS (DISPUTES) ORDER, 1966.

I, SEÁN Ó LOINSIGH, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (2) of section 2 of the Savings Bank (Barrister) Act, 1876, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Savings Banks (Disputes) Order, 1966.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The Registrar of Friendly Societies is hereby appointed as the person to and in whom the powers and duties specified in the Schedule to this Order are transferred and vested.

SCHEDULE

The following portion of the powers and duties for which provision for their transfer and vesting is made by section 2 of the Savings Bank (Barrister) Act, 1876, that is to say : the powers and duties (other than those referred to in subsection (1) of that section) relating to disputes with respect to savings bank accounts or to stock purchased out of moneys deposited in savings bank accounts or to any stock inscribed in any savings bank Stock Register arising between the trustees and managers of any savings bank or (in the case of the Post Office Savings Bank) the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs and any depositor in any such savings bank, or any executor, administrator or next-of-kin of any such depositor, or any creditor or assignee of any such depositor who may become bankrupt or insolvent, or any person claiming to be such executor, administrator, next-of-kin, creditor or assignee or to be entitled to any money deposited in such savings bank or to any stock purchased out of moneys deposited in savings bank accounts or to any stock inscribed in any savings bank Stock Register.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order extends the powers of the Registrar of Friendly Societies in connection with the adjudication of Savings Bank disputes.
