NEWSPAPERS (SPECIAL SERVICE FOR CONVEYANCE BY POST OFFICE MAIL VANS) AMENDMENT (No. 1) WARRANT, 1964.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs as testified by his official seal affixed hereto, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 14 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby order as follows :

1.—(1) This Warrant may be cited as the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1964.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1964.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.

3. In this Warrant " the Principal Warrant " means the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Warrant, 1957 ( S.I. No. 37 of 1957 ).

4. Regulation 4 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution of " 22 lb." for " 15 lb.".

5. The Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Schedule to this Warrant.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant comes into operation on 1st July, 1964. It authorises increases in the charges for the conveyance by Post Office mail vans on rural services of bundles of newly published daily newspapers. It also authorises the fixing of a charge for bundles exceeding 15 lbs. and not exceeding 22 lbs.
