AIR NAVIGATION AND TRANSPORT ACT, 1959 (PARTS III AND IV AND SCHEDULE) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1963.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by subsection (2) of Section 2 of the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1959 (No. 1 of 1959), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1959 (Parts III and IV and Schedule) (commencement) Order, 1963.

2. The 3rd day of August, 1963, is hereby fixed as the day on which Parts III and IV of and the Schedule to the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1959 (No. 1 of 1959), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into force the Hague Protocol of 1955 to the Warsaw Convention of 1929, with effect from 3rd August, 1963. The Protocol, among other things, increases the limit of an air carrier's liability to approximately £6,000 in the event of damage to passengers in international carriage.
