OIL POLLUTION OF THE SEA (CONVENTION COUNTRIES) (AUSTRALIA AND THE NETHERLANDS ANTILLES) ORDER, 1963.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, being satisfied that the government of Australia has accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, and that that Convention extends to the Netherlands Antilles, hereby in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 19 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), order as follows :

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Convention Countries) (Australia and the Netherlands Antilles) Order, 1963.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 29th day of January, 1963.

2. It is hereby declared—

(a) that the government of Australia has accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, and

(b) that that Convention extends to the Netherlands Antilles.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order declares that Australia has accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954 and that the Convention has been extended to the Netherlands Antilles.
