COPYRIGHT (FOREIGN COUNTRIES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1963.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 175 of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Act, 1927 (No. 16 of 1927), as amended by section 11 of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) (Amendment) Act, 1929 (No. 13 of 1929), and section 11 of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) (Amendment) Act, 1957 (No. 13 of 1957), and as adapted by section 2 of the Executive Powers (Consequential Provisions). Act, 1937 (No. 20 of 1937), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Copyright (Foreign Countries) (Amendment) Order, 1963.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The Copyright (Foreign Countries) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 50 of 1959 ), shall have effect as if—

(a) in Part I of the First Schedule—

(i) after "Ceylon" there were inserted "Congo (Brazzaville)",

(ii) after "Czechoslovakia" there were inserted "Dahomey",

(iii) after "Federal Republic of Germany" there were inserted "Gabon",

(iv) after "Italy" there were inserted "Ivory Coast",

(v) after "Luxembourg" there were inserted "Mali",

(vi) after "New Zealand and West Samoa" there were inserted "Niger", and

(vii) after "Romania" there were inserted "Senegal"; and

(b) in Part 2 of that Schedule—

(i) after "Cambodia" there were inserted "Canada",

(ii) after "Czechoslovakia" there were inserted "Denmark",

(iii) after "Federal Republic of Germany and Land Berlin" there were inserted "Ghana",

(iv) after "Monaco" there were inserted "Nicaragua Nigeria Norway",

(v) after "Pakistan" there were inserted "Panama", and

(vi) after "Spain" there were inserted "Sweden".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order adds Congo (Brazzaville), Dahomey, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger and Senegal to the countries of the Berne Union as listed in Part I of the First Schedule to the Copyright (Foreign Countries) Order, 1959. It also adds Canada, Denmark, Ghana, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norway, Panama and Sweden to the countries of the Universal Copyright Convention listed in Part 2 of the First Schedule to the principal Order.
