IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 122) (IRON AND STEEL FILES) ORDER, 1962.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 122) (Iron and Steel Files) Order, 1962.

2. The duty of customs imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 248) Order, 1950 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1950 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 29th day of May, 1962, be varied—

(a) by the substitution of " sixty per cent." for "seventy-five per cent." in paragraph 3 of that Order, and

(b) by the substitution of " forty per cent." for " fifty per cent." in paragraph 4 of that Order.

3. The duty of customs imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 339) (Iron and Steel Files) Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 217 of 1954 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 29th day of May, 1962, be varied—

(a) by the substitution of " one shilling and three halfpence" for " one shilling and six pence " in paragraph 3 of that Order, and

(b) by the substitution of " nine pence " for " one shilling " in paragraph 5 of that Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the above Order is to reduce the rate of Customs duty on iron and steel files to 60% (full), 40% (U.K. and Canada), ad valorem, with an additional duty of 1/1½d. (full), 9d. (U.K. and Canada), the article.
