TRAFFIC SIGNS (TEMPORARY AUTHORISATION) ORDER, 1961.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 69 of the Local Government Act, 1946 (No. 24 of 1946) as amended by section 36 of the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955) hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Traffic Signs (Temporary Authorisation) Order, 1961.

2. Notwithstanding paragraph (a) of article 2 of the Traffic Signs (Amendment) Regulations, 1961 ( S.I. No. 67 of 1961 ), the traffic sign prescribed in article 5 and section A of Part III of the Schedule to the Traffic Signs Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 284 of 1956 ) may be used to indicate that the road ahead is a major road, the traffic on which has the right of way over traffic approaching from the road on which the sign is provided.

3. The traffic sign referred to in article 2 of this Order may be used until the Minister otherwise determines or until the 31st day of December, 1961, whichever is the earlier.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order authorises the continuance in use until the Minister otherwise determines or until the 31st December, 1961 (whichever is the earlier) of the Major Road Ahead sign (No. 201) as prescribed in the Traffic Signs Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 284 of 1956 ).
