MENTAL TREATMENT ACT, 1961 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1961.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 43 of the Mental Treatment Act, 1961 (No. 7 of 1961), hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Mental Treatment Act, 1961 (Commencement) Order, 1961.

2. Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 13, 18, 21 to 36, 38 to 41 and 43 of the Mental Treatment Act, 1961 , shall for all purposes come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1961.

3. Section 42 of the said Act shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1961, for the purpose of effecting the repeal of the enactments mentioned in the Second Schedule to the said Act to the extent specified in the third column of that Schedule, with the exception of subsection (2) or section 216 of the Mental Treatment Act, 1945 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this order is to provide for the bringing into operation, as from the 1st April, 1961, of the sections of the Mental Treatment Act, 1961 , listed in paragraphs 2 and 3 of the order.
