EXCHANGE CONTROL REGULATIONS, 1961.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 27 , 30 and 31 of the Exchange Control Act, 1954 (No. 30 of 1954), as continued by the Exchange Control (Continuance) Act, 1958 (No. 30 of 1958), hereby make the following regulations :

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Exchange Control Regulations, 1961.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 7th day of February, 1961.

(3) The Principal Regulations, the Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 1959 ( S.I. No. 140 of 1959 ), the Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 62 of 1960 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 to 1961.

2. In these Regulations " the Principal Regulations " means the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 ( S.I. No. 44 of 1959 ).

3. Ansbacher & Co., Ltd., 85 Merrion Square, Dublin, is hereby appointed to be an authorised dealer.

4. Paragraph (c) of Article 10 of the Principal Regulations, as amended by Article 3 of the Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 1959, is hereby amended by the substitution of " £2,000 " for " £500 ".

5. Subparagraph (c) of paragraph (2) of Article 22 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of " £2,000 " for " £500 ".

6. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the insertion of " Cyprus " and " Nigeria ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the lists of authorised dealers and scheduled territories for the purposes of the Exchange Control Acts, 1954 and 1958, and simplify exchange control procedures in relation to imports and exports.
