MENTAL HOSPITALS OFFICERS (TUTORS) REGULATIONS, 1960.

The Minister for Health, being the appropriate Minister for the purposes of Part II of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941) as respects the office to which these Regulations relate, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph (i) of subsection (1) of section 19 of the said Act, hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Mental Hospitals Officers (Tutors) Regulations, 1960.

2. Every holder of the office of Tutor under a mental hospital authority as defined in section 3 of the Mental Treatment Act, 1945 (No. 19 of 1945) who is not on appointment registered in the Mental Nurses' Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais, shall cease to hold office at the expiration of three years after his appointment to the office unless before such expiration he has been registered in the said Division of the Register.

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM.

The effect of these regulations is to oblige Tutors in district mental hospitals who are not on appointment registered mental nurses, to acquire such registration within three years of appointment.
